2013 Bilbao Bizkaia Design Festival Awards

B AWARDS, Bilbao Bizkaia Design Festival, is a conceptual festival celebrating design in Bizkaia, the Basque Country. Conceived as an international festival, it aims to promote connections between young design students from all over the world and the Basque productive sector, as well as publicising Basque design in international circles. The initiative is sponsored by the Provincial Council of Bizkaia and Bilbao City Council, through the Bilbao-Bizkaia Design and Creativity Council, which is also supported by Bilbao Metropoli 30 and EIDE, the Basque Designers Association.

B AWARDS adopts the format of a design competition between seven universities and prestigious training centres from around the world, creating spaces and building bridges to encourage Basque students to contact and interact with up-and-coming young talents in the design world. The festival is also an opportunity to showcase the work of these future designers to a jury made up of internationally acclaimed talents as well as prominent figures from the Basque design and creative world and the Basque productive environment.

Japanese design is the central theme of the upcoming edition of B AWARDS, which will take place at AlhondigaBilbao on 13 and 14 November. Under the banner Japan talks design, established designers, representatives of prestigious festivals, educators, design journalists and publicists, and young designers from the “land of the rising sun” will share their expertise, knowledge and experience to show us how design is practised in this part of Asia.

It´s a conceptual design festival to discover and enjoy Basque and International design through its projects and actors.

B AWARDS Bilbao / Bizkaia Design Festival have been created in response to the need for a stable foundation for design development in Bilbao and Bizkaia.

Developing design implementation is a first step towards forming a structure for local proposals and progressing in a global relationship with other international proposals.

Developing a strategy around design, taking advantage of its innovative profile, makes the Bilbao / Bizkaia GLOCAL Concept Design Awards an excellent platform for launching Basque production, making the most of both local and international talent and transforming it into a "GLOCAL" event.
