The vectors used in drawing programs are called Bézier curves. All drawing programs handle Bézier curves in a similar fashion: a pen tool allows the user to set a series of points on the page, and these will automatically be joined by lines.

Illustrator Lawrence Zeegen uses Freehand to assemble and manipulate a combination of bitmap and drawn images. When displayed in 'artwork' form it is easy to see the entire structure and layout of object-orientated components.
