Time is Right for Zeegen Online - Neil Gillespie
Illustrator Lawrence Zeegen has launched a portfolio Web site.
Functioning primarily as a showcase for his illustrations, the
site features a range of Zeegen's commissioned work, his experimental
pieces and his freelance writing for such titles as Creative Review.
"I've had the idea for a while but the time seemed right to do
it. People have faster connections now and having a Web site means
it's easier for people to see my work," says Zeegen. "I'm based
in Brighton but a lot of the people that I work for are in London.
Having an online resource means that anyone can refer to it and
I don't have to bother with couriers taking work up to London
all of the time."
The look for the site is simple, with a clean, grey backdrop enforcing
the colourful nature of Zeegen's work. The site was built in Dreamweaver
and Flash while most of Zeegen's work designed in Freehand and
Photoshop.
Zeegen is also Course Leader for BA (Hons) Graphic Design at the
University of Brighton and one of his former students, Leo Marks,
who is now a Web designer, helped to build the site. The project
took four months to design and develop.
Zeegen's work has recently featured in The Guardian, The Observer
and The Financial Times, and a range of prints of Zeegen's designs
and a collection of T-shirts is available to purchase on the site.
